Enrollment at Ross

Ross Montessori is a free, public school in Carbondale, Colorado.

As a charter school, we are funded by the state and individual donations. We charge no tuition, are non-discriminatory in admissions, and provide an alternative education within the public school framework. As a Montessori school, we meet the needs of individual children while meeting (or exceding) state standards.

Ross Montessori provides equitable enrollment opportunities through a lottery system to all who apply. Applications for the lottery are due April 3, 2026. To apply, please complete the lottery application. If you have questions, email the receptionist & registrar at frontdesk@rossmontessori.org or call the school at 970-963-7199.

Enrollment Timeline

February & March: School tours for prospective families April 3, 2026: Deadline for Letter of Intent (returning students) and Lottery Application (new students). April 8, 2026: The lottery April 9, 2026: Notification will begin. April 16, 2026: Lottery applicants must respond to the school to accept or decline verbally or by email, by the close of business day. Ongoing: New student registration packets must be completed and returned to the Ross Montessori School Front Office within exactly one week of receiving them. Only complete registration packets will be accepted. Packets missing documents (such as birth certificates, immunization records, etc) will be returned until every item is ready. Failure to complete the registration packet in time may forfeit your child’s spot at RMS.

The best way to learn about Montessori education is to see it in action. We invite prospective families to tour Ross. Tours are designed for adult family members (1 or 2 adults per family). An adult may carry a non-mobile infant.

Open House - Tues., Feb. 24 - 4:00-5:30 pm - New families interested in learning about Ross are invited for a brief presentation about our programs and values, followed by an open house throughout the school.
